i would like to run some seeds for my first time along with some cuts i need to take so my question is on timing if i take cuts and sprout seeds at same time will they veg about the same or will one get alot further ahead then other
i figure i take a cut takes 7-12 days to root on average soi can let them go acouple dys in tray to make a full two weeks before transplanting i can transplant them into a 2 inch pot then a 6 inch and probly eat up another month to 6 weeks getting them to a point were i would put them in final container give them another two weeks or so to root into it before flowering so all in all around around 8 weeks average till ready for flower my question is if i start to germinate seeds at same time as taking cuts how will seeds fair on this timeline and what should i do to get them to line up

Hi Dj, to be on the safe side I would start germinating your seeds two-three weeks before you take your clones. The reason being is that some seeds take longer to germinate than others and also the rate at which a clone takes off growing roots is much faster than a seedling. Recently I have experimented with a few different types of seed germinating techniques. I would say to be on the safe side, go old school and use the paper towel method. Fold two paper towels into a six layer cube and moisten with distilled water, place in a ziploc bag or on a plate covered with plastic wrap and place it in a warm not to hot cupboard in the dark. You dont want to cook the seeds ~~~;-D Come back 48 hrs later to start checking on them to see if any roots have emerged from the seed. Once the root has emerged, you can gently place in the grow media of your choice. BONUS TIP- Some Cultivators like to drop there seeds in a glass of distilled water for 24 hours before placing in the paper towels, can help speed up the germination process.

    Great stuff Braveheart!!!
If you soak them overnight, enrich the water with a few drops of Seaweed. Just enough to color the water. Also, fresh seeds should only soak for 12 hours before placing into paper towels or directly into media to sprout…:-)

clones take two weeks to establish nice roots and will have a solo cup filled in a week. a seed will germinate usually in a week and be ready to be put into a solo in a week and will fill that solo in a week aswell. that being said both will take roughly three weeks to fill there solo cup 16 oz first container.. idk where you get to start a seed several weeks before a clone thats ridiculous IMO maybe a week before tops..

and this is how i clone. i use GH start cubes 50 pack and 50 cuttings. take your cubes and cut down one of the sides directly into the middle in every one. now take one of your cuttings and make a 45 degree cut a half inch below the bottom node you chose for your cutting which should leave it 4-5 inches long. now scratch the bottom inch of the cutting with your scalpel and be careful not to peal the stem. now dip into the gel(clonex) and place it into the cube through the side so you dont wipe off the cloning gel as you would pushing it through the top(where cutting the cubes comes into play). now cut the first 1/3 of all of your leaf tips off to also promote rooting. then add your innoculant water mix to hydrate the cubes and then dump out the excess. i usually have a 95% success with this method.

21 days old. This Seed began its germination process the exact same day that this clone was cut.

im the one who started thread and I ended up starting germination process 2 days after taking clones-and at this point the seeds are already in solo cup and growing working on 3rd set of branches as for my clones are all rooted now some at about day 8 some at about day 12 so now im 2 weeks from taking clones and about to transplant all clones tonight and id have to say I think clones will have trouble keeping up with seeds growth ill post some pics after transplanting

It can go either way. Depending on strain and lighting. I usually take bigger clones at 4″-5″, and I leave several nodes which quickly become branches.
I would generally drop seeds a week before I cut my clones…:-)

Yeah but, how long does it take you to clone? When your cloning methods is crazy sick like yours of course your going to be far ahead of the curve. The seed doesn’t stand a chance against the B.H. cloner. Haha! 😀

i just wanna see how long it takes the seed to reach the same size as the clone is currently.

Plants grown from seed do have a vigor that clones generally don’t. Once they get going they will surpass the growth of a clone…:-)
