I just made some dry ice hash for the first time and ill have to say im impressed for a small grower like me its perfect ice water extraction takes so long and I usually end up mixing my trim to save time and not have to run multiple batches but I don’t get those individual flavors- did some dry ice runs and was finished in about ten minutes per batch im wonderin if anybody uses this technique and could share some tips-ive been using the 160 mic bag and it seems to work good but anybodys input is welcome
Works great! I don’t do it as long. To try and it keep it blond. I’ve noticed when I do it for longer than a couple of min. I start seeing more green. The plant matter start breaking in to small pieces that fit through the screen.
I usually take that and make something more concentrated. It’s a great starter to make a more valuable concentrates. 😉
as an outside grower with large amounts of trim coming off the garden, ive found dry ice extraction is the way to go. we keep the flavors of trim serperate and its cool to see the individual traits to each different strain. we have run test. we have taken 5-6% thc trim and concentrated it to 30% thc in a 10 min process. I like the idea that i can do this with wet or dry product. makes harvesting days alot more efficient and everything is clean at the end of the day. !!!!!!!. There is one thing in life you cant get back and thats time, thats why i like this method.
I like the idea. I haven’t tried it YET. Just because I don’t think the finished product will compare to the best Ice-water extracted hash. Am I wrong?
the quality is determined by your material and length of shake as with ice water hash if u stir it to long u get more but the quality is no good -with the dry ice hash just shake for first minute or two in one pile then move to another pile then a third pile-your fist pile will be full melt second will be pretty close to full melt and third will be a little greener definitly a awesome way to extract and its comes out dry and ready to smoke
this was my first attempt sorta a blurry pic but u get the idea
i personally dont think dry ice hash is better then ice water extraction, the THC % will tell us that. But there are many PROs to dry ice hash that ive seen. 1) you can make a consumable product in 10 mins from a plant that was just harvested if desired. 2) As a collective you can produce a higher quailty medicine for a fraction of the cost and labor, we are talking CENTS to produce GRAMS, allowing people who normally couldnt afford good meds an opportunity to, not to mention collectives could run screaming good deals with low overhead loss. 3) you can refine the dry ice hash and since the dry ice hash is concentrated when you go to extract with other methods theoretically your yeilds should be larger because you are using a more concentrated base. Just a few PROS i have noticed with DIH
this is my automated Dry Ice Extractor
PhantomMenace24, tell me more about your automated dry ice extractor. Did you make it, buy it etc.? I am about to do my first dry ice run and have a good amount of trim. Any advice, should I dry it or do it fresh, how should I dry the extract when its done being made? Pressing, heating? Whats your system, please enlighten a noob…

the extract coming out is typically dry, the dry ice gets so cold it dissipates any surrounding moisture. I hand roll mine like logs in a ziplock bag if i want it compacted and then throw it in the freezer for storage. Lately i have been washing the kief with moonshine, its coming out pretty nice. the machine i posted is called the herb hog, its a design a friend and i innovated and built, Patent pending. We will be at the High Times show coming up in a few weeks in Richmond if anyone wants to come see it in person. I run trim dry and wet. the quality seems to come out the same in my opinion, moist trim takes a few more mins to start producing cause there is more moisture that has to dissipate. Im not a professional just things i have observed when running DIH
Thank you for the knowledge PMenace.Hope your doing well. Did your moonshine turn into shatter quality?
nope, still working on drawing the chlorophyl out and then have to get it stable. learning alot though. Still prefer flower, OG Kush to be precise. Secondary solvents is what im trying to learn about… anyone have any knowledge in that area?
I just want to thank you for your input…:-)
The photo below is of some a DIH based Phoenix Tears aka Rick Simpson Oil purging and the machine that was used to produce the grain alcohol and tumble the Dry Ice Hash. The Tumbler and the Still have now been integrated into a single apparatus . which now allows you to produce multipule types of hash with the same machine.
This is our new design
