In my neck of the woods it’s an on going debate between growers who grow’s the best medicine? Is it the grower’s that claim to only start from seed each cycle? Or the Grower’s that have mother plant’s started from seed or have been gifted to them? I have my own opinion, but I would love to hear everyone else’s GROWER’S and PATIENT’S ~~~;-D
Clones are a great convenience. BUT, a plant from clone will always be inferior to a plant from seed in several ways. Seeds have vigor. It’s like a baby getting immunity’s from their mothers milk. Seed plants have immunity’s that sometime fade over generations of cloning.
Seeds offer you the opportunity to make offspring. These offspring can provide differences in the phenotype which you might find favorable. AND you can create NEW and better versions of the original…:-)
I’m all about the seed ,I love the possibilities and pheno hunting and…breeding just starting to really study up on this,my herb always has a real powerful smell and taste when grown from seed vs clones also when I grow from clones I get everyones mistakes.
For the longest time i have been a clone mongol as i ran perpetual indoor harvest. Didnt have the time to pop my own seeds. As i have transitioned from inside to out side i ran my first seed last year and had such good results. So im getting ready to pop some seeds but dont have that much experience at it. Can it be done in rock wool? Would you guys suggest using straight PH distilled water or should i mix some sort of nitrate with my water. Cant wait to see what these Cherry Dreams do. Thanks kyle for the seeds. Im still looking for the Grape Ape strain?
Rockwool isn’r the best media for popping seeds, though I’ve seen it done. I’d germinate in paper towels either on a plate or in a baggy. I use dechlorinated, aerated tap water with a few DROPS of Thrive Alive. Then plant the sprouts tail down. I like soil, grow plugs made from “rubber dirt” works well too…:-)
here are the Cherry Dream seeds i planted today. i have 12 seeds i planted only 8 just incase i made a mistake. i used mainly pro-mix micro soil mixed with worm castings, peralite, and grow stones to make the soil lighter. then i moistened soil and plugged the seeds. they now reside inside the green house with a dome over them. ill keep you guys posted and let you know how they come out.
Good luck with your seeds!! I have several plants I have been able to grow from seeds and I noticed they were growing faster and better than my clones …..
Thanks mama kush for the luck. IT WORKED
Well I will tell you I was a Clone Monger for years. I had a few disasterous crops when I was a boy using seed stock and was fearful of the ever DREADFUL HERMAPHRODITE for years. Since then I have overcome my fears ~~~;-D and Kyle you are absoloutly spot on, no matter how well I spoil my mothers there always comes a time to replace them and there spunk seem to wither. There is something about the seeds that get me all fuzzy inside and excited like a little boy, and your right Cultivator, Pheno Hunting, luv it. I will be back for more on this topic, I still have some time to go before my first seed stock harvest in years is finished. I will keep u posted. Thank you everyone for your input~~~;-D
Today i walked in and the last few that were not popped shot up. All but 1. In this batch there is of course the Cherry dream. Also i acquired Jilly Bean X Jilly Bean, Blue Dream x Blueberry, and Mr. Nice x blueberry. Givin to be by a new found friend.
P.S. anyone else getting excited for the upcoming outside season?
I am, Veganic Outdoor Formula launching by June…:-)
Hi Kyle, my first time on your forum been listening to your free weed padcast with Danko and man you are a world of info, I have been trying to get your strain but with no luck, I have found that Dinafem have your strawberry cough strain, my question is that a true strawberry cough strain from you?
Blue dream is a cross of blueberry and haze. Similar to Kyle’s haze he’s been tinkering with. If u end up selling seeds again Kyle I’m ready lol
Bonjour JohnnyFeelGood, the true Strawberry Cough is a rare sativa that Kyle Kushman inherited many moons ago from a friend of his from the East Coast. He instantly fell in love with the StrawbZ when he grew her and brought her to her full potential and saw her beauty and felt her super powerful effects. Since then he has continued growing the StrawbZ and has even used her in some of his breeding projects.
Kyle Kushman made the Strawberry Cough a legend.~~~;-D.
Your right SiccMade, BlueDream is a cross of blueberry x haze, and if your lucky you have the SantaCruz Haze X DJ Short Blueberry clone only BlueDream.
Clones are very convenient for me as i take cuttings from the strong, healthy lower shoots on a selected plant. I choose the strongest specimen of a specific strain and root clones from that female. Ever since i got a good hand of control over cloning i only had one rule… to have more than one of each strain in the veg garden. I feel like im doin somethin right as i have fifteen strain always rockin perpetually and i know not a lot of people do that. I have really noticed though that everytime i crack a new strain, the plant that is flowered out from seed is as superior as almost anything you can do with a cutting. Seeds are also nice because i believe its a good way to get into growing for newbs as everyone has cracked a bagseed or two and it is generally eadier than learning the art of propagation. But by far the most intriguing thing about seedstock is their very inner workings and things like the alligator egg theory. When baby alligator eggs are spawned and hatched, the sex of the offspring is solely determined by environmental factors surrounding the eggs before theyre hatched. Same with cannabis seedstock. I used to think that you would see an almost perfect 50/50 ratio out of a regular pack of genetics. But through my studies i was surprised to find that the stage between germination and sexing, or when the plants show preflowers, that this is the most vital time to give young seedlings your upmost attention to detail to get those female ratios on the up and up. Also the overwintering inhibitor that needs to be broken on seeds for successful germination called abscisic acid (ABA). I myself aspire to learn more about and eventually breed my own cannabis varieties but for now im going to enjoy my exact genetic replica clones of some of my favorite smokes! Peace!
